New police appeal in hunt for gang who attacked men in their car

Police have made a new appeal for witnesses in the search for a group of men who attacked a car and its occupants.

A group of men attacked the dark blue Audi A4 in Melbourne Road, Highfields, Leicester injuring two people and causing extensive damage to the vehicle.

The attack happened shortly after 4pm on Saturday, May 14.

Two people suffered what police described as minor injuries.

Officers have arrested five men, aged 20 to 25, in connection with the incident.

In a statement, Leicestershire Police said: "Despite the arrests we are still keen to speak to anyone who was in the area.

"The incident took place in broad daylight in a busy area and it was definitely witnessed by many people.

"If you feel that you can't contact the police directly then please contact Crimestoppers anonymously, any information you can provide will be treated in the strictest confidence."

A 25-year-old man was arrested at the time on suspicion of affray, a further four men, aged 20, 22 and two aged 25, have also been arrested on suspicion of affray.

They have been released on police bail while officers conduct further inquiries.
