A man has been charged with murder after a man who had been injured during an alleged assault died in hospital almost a month later.
Antony Garwood, 45, of Redmarle Road, Braunstone, Leicester is to appear at the city's crown court next month charged with murdering Slawomir Niestepski.
Leicestershire Police officers were called to an address in Redmarle Road shortly before midday on Friday, April 22 to investigate a report that a man had suffered a cardiac arrest following an assault.
Mr Niestepski , 43, of Fullhurst Avenue, Braunstone was initially taken to University of Coventry and Walsgrave Hospital and subsequently transferred to Leicester Royal Infirmary.
He died on Monday, May 16.
Antony Garwood was charged with murder three days later.
He is due to appear at Leicester Crown Court on Friday, June 17.
